Lizz Sanders is a phenomenal Reggae artist on the rise and we’re happy to present her bio to our following:
Independent vocalist, Elizabeth Ruth Sanders (Lizz Sanders) was born in Los Angeles, California to a Jamaican mother and an American father on February 8th,1984. She is currently based in New York City.
As a young girl, Lizz was surrounded by music. Her family would get together and sing old-time classics very often. She sang in her church and school choir. She was in a local singing group with a few of her classmates. Her father, the late Allen “Ferdnanny” Sanders was a talented musician and songwriter. He played guitar and performed backup vocals in the critically acclaimed R&B band “A Different Bag.” The band achieved success during the ’70s and early ’80s and was the opening act for several musicians, including Issac Heyes and Little Richard.
Her Father also enjoyed Reggae music. He exposed her to the King, Bob Marley, and others such as Steel Pulse, Aswad, Third World, and Yami Bolo. However, a young Lizz developed a deeper passion for the genre after the tragic death of vocalist Garnett Silk. She became deeply rooted and inspired to one day contribute to Reggae music.
In September of 2006, Lizz visited New York City and attended an l-Wayne and l-Gyptian concert. Weeks later, she saw a commercial containing footage from the concert. She decided to contact the producer, and that is how she befriended television and music producer Howell Allen. He immediately recognized her abundant passion for music. He offered her a position as a Host for his television program “Backyard T.V.” Lizz relocated to N.Y.C. and hosted the program from 2007-2008. She met numerous Reggae greats during that time whom also encouraged her to pursue her dreams to start writing and recording her music.
In 2014, Lizz began to perfect her craft and decided to pursue music professionally. Early in 2015, Lizz became affiliated with Golden Tunes Radio. Finally, in January 2017 Lizz penned her first song entitled “Don’t Throw Away Our Love.” The song was inspired by one of her favorite Selena Quintanilla songs: “Don’t Throw Away My Love” and she recorded it with the help of renowned musician, Courtney Panton Sr. of New Kingston Band. The song was an instant success and gained consistent radio airplay, reaching Jamaica, London, and Africa.
Lizz Sanders debut E.P. is set to be released in early 2020 entitled: “D.T.A.O.L.” (Don’t Throw Away Our Love). Classified as an Indie Lover’s Rock project, the E.P. is sure to make wavelengths in and around the music world.
